ERCOT - New ERCOT Website Delivers Ongoing Insight into Market Issues
By Suzanne Childre, Director,
Downstream Marketing, GDF SUEZ Energy
Resources NA
Volatile prices. The zonal-nodal
switch. A shifting energy mix and changing technology. Keeping
up with the latest ERCOT information, market trends and
fundamentals is a moving target. That’s why this week GDF SUEZ
Energy Resources launched a new ERCOT website at
www.knowtexaspower.com.
The new site will serve both as the official
registration center for the GDF SUEZ Energy Resources ERCOT
Seminar 2010 and also as a long-term online resource for ERCOT
market information and discussions from previous ERCOT seminars.
Visitors to the site will find videos of past presentations, an
interactive section with an ERCOT market blog, information on
upcoming events and other resources that make expert market
insights from the event easy to access.
Last year’s
event was held in November, and featured Barry T. Smitherman,
Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Texas; Mike
Cleary, Nodal Director and Senior Vice President of ERCOT;
Andrew Elliott, Director of Supply and Portfolio Management at
GDF SUEZ Energy Resources; and Andrew Weissman, Publisher of
Energy Business Watch. The speakers presented to a capacity
crowd at Houston’s Hotel ZaZa in the museum district, providing
insight on everything from smart grids to price indicators. All
presentations from 2009 are available at the website’s video
gallery.
This year’s event will also be held in the
fall, spotlighting critical issues impacting your day-to-day
decision making. Go to
www.knowtexaspower.com and sign up for automatic updates on
the event speakers, agenda and venue. In fact, visit the site
today and YOU can help determine which city will host the GDF
SUEZ Energy Resources ERCOT Seminar in 2010. Click on Houston or
Dallas, and help make the event a little closer to home. You can
also book a seat in advance online.
The ERCOT Seminar
and its online resources at the site are just another long-term
investment we’re making to ensure that Texas businesses can
better manage the risk involved with energy contracts and
decisions. “Change is the one thing you can count on when
thinking about the way your organization’s power is purchased
and delivered,” says GDF SUEZ Energy Resources Director Andrew
Elliot, one of last year’s speakers. “You need all of the
variables to feel good about where your enterprise sits in terms
of risks and rewards, and these seminars are a great starting
point.”
For more information on the event, visit the
website or contact your GDF SUEZ Energy Resources sales
representative.
