PJM – Pennsylvania Market Update – Expanded Service Offerings
By Kevin Stafford, Market Manager - PJM/MISO, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA
Well in advance of the expiration
of PPL’s rate caps at the end of 2009, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources
had been actively working with businesses in Central and Eastern
Pennsylvania to provide products and services that would suit
their needs better than the standard utility offering. Many of
these businesses have taken advantage of lower market-based
pricing and customized energy solutions, contracting with GDF
SUEZ Energy Resources and avoiding the higher uncapped default
rates and lack of product and contract flexibility typically
associated with the utility. The December 31, 2010, rate cap
expirations for the other Pennsylvania electric delivery
companies – PECO, Met-Ed, Penelec and West Penn Power – are
right around the corner. Accordingly, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources
is pleased to announce that we are now providing energy
solutions – including electricity, demand response and renewable
energy credits – for customers in these other Pennsylvania
regions. Expected default service price increases across
these utility service territories vary by region and customer
size. However, large industrial and commercial customers will
default to hourly prices with the option of a fixed price for
2011 only. Mid- to small sized customers will have a fixed price
product for which the price changes periodically as the utility
layers in different wholesale energy procurements. All customers
are eligible to choose an alternative supplier. In the
coming months, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources will reach out to
businesses in the PECO, Met-Ed, Penelec and West Penn Power
territories and host a number of events across the state to
provide more information on what is changing, how it might
affect your business and what you can do take control of your
electricity costs.
Please contact your GDF SUEZ sales
representative for more information about Pennsylvania and to
obtain a no-obligation price quote. Or you can go to our
Pennsylvania-specific website,
