What To Do Before 2006 Ends

There is a lot of confusion in the ComEd market.

There is an enrollment window that expires at the end of 2006.  But all customers in ComEd do not have just 50 days to shop before they are locked into the applicable default bundled basic electric service.

400 KW – 3 MW  ComEd customers on hourly pricing, PPO MVM, or customers served by an alternative competitive retail supplier do have this window to select the ComEd fixed price bundled rate.   Once made, that selection is binding until May 2008.  If they miss this window, they cannot receive the ComEd fixed price bundled rate until June 2008.

However, customers currently served on ComEd fixed price bundled rate do not have to take any action during this window and they will stay on this service with options to switch anytime after the period to an alternative competitive retail supplier.  When a customer makes an “active request”, the completion of ComEd form “BES_NRA_Election”, they are locked into the fixed price bundled rate until June 2008.

For smaller customers (<400 KW) there is no enrollment window at all.
